NEPTUNE P2V-7
Model for FS2000
Neptune
P2V-7 for FS2000 designed with Hervé DEVRED’S AD2000 V2. http://actpub.com/
Moving
parts :
Ailerons,
flaps, rudder, elevators.
The
undercarriage is mobile and the front wheel can be oriented with the rudder
control.
The light
attached to the nose wheel can be switched on if the gear is down. It can be oriented using the rudder control.
The
four-bladed propellers are mobile as well as the rotating turbines.
At around
1400 rpm, the propellers are replaced by 2 transparent disks.
When
engines are stopped, the propellers also stop rotating (deadsticking).
When
flying, deadsticking is active at very low speed.
A red
strobe light is activated above the rudder.
A
searchlight can be switched on - gear up- at the front of the auxiliary tank
and can be oriented by the elevator and rudder controls.
Two
landing lights replace the searchlight when the gear is down.
The left pilot’s head follows the orientation of the rudder.
This model was based on the Hasegawa 1/72
plastic model kit.
Designed
for patrol missions by the American LOCKHEED company, the Neptune made its
first flight on 17 May 1945.
In 1946,
the P2V-1 established the long distance world record by flying 18,681 kilometres
in 55 hours and 17 minutes. 1,181 Neptunes were built, of which, 359 were P2V-7
models.
34 planes
of this version were flown by the French Navy until 1983.
This very
safe aircraft was equipped with an APS-20E search radar under the fuselage and
with a system to detect electromagnetic interference caused by submarines. The “148335” aircraft was offered to the Air
and Space Museum in 1983 at the end of its career with the 25F Navy Squadron.
