VP AircraftAIRCRAFT: PB4Y ThumbnailCameraVP-119 PB4Y BUNO: 59411 "...W411 - This photo of BUNO: 59411 is from the VPB-119 Cruise Book. BUNO: 59411 was issued new to VPB-119 at NAAS Camp Kearny, California on 31 Oct 1944 and became the primary aircraft of Crew #1 Commanded by LCDR Raymond C. Bales. LCDR Bales and his crew were lost while flying another aircraft near Hangchow Harbor, China on 1 April 1945. BUNO: 59411 continued in service with the squadron and survived the War. The plane was eventually returned to NAS Corpus Christi, Texas where she was declared excess and struck off charge on 30 June 1946..." Contributed by Dave Deatherage satx_dave@flash.net [02AUG2008]

VP AircraftAIRCRAFT: PB4Y ThumbnailCameraVP-119 PB4Y BUNO: 59413 "...W413 - The attached image file is a composite photo of PB4Y-2, Bureau Number 59413 which was issued to Patrol Bombing Squadron VPB119 in November of 1944. According to the squadron's war diaries, the aircraft operated thoughout the war and eventually returned to the States where she was struck off charge at NAS Corpus Christi, TX in June, 1946. This plane was the primary aircraft of crew #4, Commanded by Lt. John W. Holt. The arrtwork on the starboard side shows a caricature of a tramp leaning on a bomb with the label, "Delayed Action", written on the bomb. The entire artwork is titled, "Holt's Patches"..." VP AircraftAIRCRAFT: PB4Y ThumbnailCameraVP-119 PB4Y BUNO: 59420, 59426 and 59403 "...Circa February 1945 - Most of the pictures of patrol bombers I have seen are of singular planes on their patrol missions; I don't think I have seen another picture of PB4Y-2s in formation. These planes were part of VPB-119; I don't know which plane the photographer is riding in but the other 3 visible planes are (in order of distance from the photographer) BUNO # 59420, BUNO # 59426, & BUNO # 59403. We believe this formation of planes are part of the first echelon of 5 planes that departed Kanohe, Hawaii on 7 February, 1945 on the Unit's deployment to the SW Pacific and eventually, to Clark Field, Luzon, Philippine Islands..."
