SAGERHOLM, AMMF2 Frithiof Norris c/o VADM Jim Sagerholmnavsag@aol.com "...My older brother, Frithiof Norris Sagerholm, was an AMMF2/c in VPB-216, and served during the Marianas campaign, for which he was awarded the Air Medal. He was detached from the squadron shortly after the end of the campaign and was sent to the Naval Academy Prep School at Bainbridge, from which he entered the Naval Academy in 1945, graduating in 1949. He subsequently received his naval aviator's wings,and was assigned to VP-46(?), flying the PBM once again, a plane he had helped to build at Martin Aircraft prior to enlisting in 1943. He was a PBM PC in the Korean War, flying out of NAS Iwakuni, Japan. He resigned from the Navy in 1958, and went with the FAA at NAFEC, old NAS Atlantic City, New Jersey, from which he retired in 1978. He resides in Ocean City, NJ. Keenan (Navigator), Richard Miller (ARM1), John Higgins (ARM3), R. T. Thomas (FE), C. B. Burton (AOM), R. D Kading (SN -Tail Gunner), C. F. Haynes (Waist Gunner), and J. F. Steiner (Bow Turret Gunner). As far as I know I am the only survivor of this crew. If anyone knows my crew - please le me know. P.S.
