LOGOs: LOGO History: "...Just a comment about the origin of VP-22's crest. I was with the squadron when the skipper (CDR Godwin) decided to use the blue goose as the logo. We submitted a sketch through channels and it was approved. When we returned from NAHA in 1950 the skipper was presented with a goose. It was kept in a cage outside the old VP hangar. LOGOs:  VP-22 Patch "...VP-22 patch circa 1958. Note there is no "Blue Goose". The men of the squadron were not pleased with the current patch because it looked too comical. They wanted the Blue Goose to go away all together, a "Red Dog" seemed much more 'manly'.
