ReunionsREUNIONs: "...This last September, VP-2 held a Reunion in Bow, WA. I have to say this was one of the most memorable events of my life. It was both heart warming to see Shipmates again after nearly 40 years and sad to learn that some of us had passed on to calmer waters and blue skys. My thanks to the people that planned this event and encourage all that couldn't makle it to attend the VP-2 Reunion in 2008 in San Diego, CA. UPDATE "...The 2000 reunion was a tremendous success..." Contributed by Floyd Palmer plmf01@mctcnet.net [28MAY2001]

November 5, 2000

Dear VP-2'ers,

The 2000 reunion was a tremendous success. Thanks to everyone who made it possible, especially Elizabeth Chruma. Special thanks to our past president Joe Lapham! As always we are looking forward to the next reunion in 2002. Please fill out and return the enclosed ballot to place your vote for the next location.

Doug Millar has been appointed VP-2's association Chaplain.

Skip Forseth has been appointed VP-2's association Historian.

The association bylaws have been reviewed and appear to be in order.

Robert Wallin is creating a VP-2 website. You can visit the site at http://www.patron2.com or http://www.vp-2.com.

Joe Lapham is working on getting a P2-V7 static display at Whidbey.

We are also trying to get a memorial to honor our shipmates who were lost while on duty. It will be located at Whidbey.

After the first of the year, another letter will be mailed to all association members, both past and present. The purpose of the next letter is to ask for your help in locating past members or those who have never joined the association. If you have any information on someone who is not currently in the association, please contact Marie Hart.

It is indeed an honor to have been elected President of this Association. I have been dedicating a lot of time researching, exploring and discovering what we can do to continue serving you, our members, better. I must admit that I am enjoying every minute of it! It is very exciting to create and make all these plans over the next two years. If you have any ideas or suggestions, I would love to hear from you.

From our squadron flag still hanging in Oak Harbor Tavern:

"Adamante Semper Parato"
Remain Always Prepared

Sincerely,

Floyd D. Palmer
VP-2 Association President
