BOYD, Nelson nelsonboyd@mindspring.com "...I was in VP-724 and VP-722 around 1963-65. I went on the NAS Los Alamitos, California cruise and got to see the Watts riots up real close. The next year was NAS Patuxent River, Maryland. I went on to 5 years active 67-72 in the USAF, but flying in P2s was the best in my service years. The commute in R4Ds was fun too, especially when they were being phased out for R6s. We had 6 straight emergency landings. Nice to hear from the NAS Glenview, Illinois gang..." [06OCT2000]

BRUECK, Jack Bruclan@worldnet.att.net "...I was in reserve squadron VP-724 NAS Glenview, Illinois from 1962-70. I had a great time, a lot of laughs with a great bunch of guys. Fortunately I've been able to stay in touch with several of my fellow crewmembers and our chief. My only regret over the years was that I didn't go regular navy and fullfill a dream of an assignment on a carrier. Naval pride never dies. Hope to other Squadron comments and find out what everybody is doing..." [30JAN99]

GEORGIN, ADJ2 Mick mickgeorgin@ec.rr.com "...I served with VP-724 in mid-late 1960's. I was a Plane Captain and had many memorable flights. Was recruited to VP-724 by Chief Jim Ross and outstanding individual! I was told I had more flight time than anyone else in the squadron, pilots included. I remember getting finished with a hop and there was another flight waiting for me to get on and be Plane Captain. Yes, we were short on personnel. But I Loved it! Nice trips to the Carribean, etc. Lot of great guys. Guess I was kinda looked up to, as I came from 4 years in the regular Navy and didn't really need to do more time. JusT enjoyed being around the AC. How many Plane Captains remember the expression "I got the pickle?" I built large giant scale radio controlled aircraft and would like to find giant scale plans of at least 100" Thanks for the memories!..." [30MAR2004]

JONES, Elmer c/o His Son Jeff Jones jljones@umr.edu "...I am looking for former crewmembers of VP-724 that may have served with my father, Elmer Jones. He was a radioman on a P2 during the early 60s ( 62 - 65 ) I believe. He had a buddy named Bill Spuhl that was an ECM operator in the same crew. I would very much like to suprise my Dad with some information from his old crew. Looking forward to hearing from ya...Also, the pilot for his crew was Commander Harry Hoffmeister..." MORGANO, Louis P. lsm-salvage@webtv.com "...I served with VP-724 at the NAS Glenview, Illinois from 1964 - 1968. I was an ADR2 and flew in the plane captains position on P2V Neptunes A/C. Spent my two weeks active duty tours at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland and NAS Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. Had an engine blow a jug on the way to Miami on our off weekend and spent a week at the USMC NAS Cherry Point, doing an engine change. Also enjoyed off weekend flight to St. Croix Isl. via NAS San Juan when they were still flying the Super Constallations. Also, some of the cross country Navigation training flights and the search flight over Lake Michigan when a civilian airline from O'Hare went down. Best wishes to all I served with both Officers and Enlisted..." [07MAR99]
