BRESCIANO, AMM3 Louis "Louie" (Deceased) C/O His Son Peter P. Bresciano, CMSgt USMC/USAF Retired ppbchief@yahoo.com "...After many years of putting it off, last week I decided to go through my Father's photo album covering his service in the Pacific during WWII. Didn't get past the first page as the Liberator and the Privateer through me for a loop. Had no trouble identifying a B-24, but when it took on only one vertical stabilizer, I didn't know what to think. I've been bouncing around the VPB websites till midnight every night since then. Have restored the first album and am waiting for my brother to send up the other. We did a job on these albums when we were kids. Must have looked at them a hundred times a week. My dad, Louis "Louie" Bresciano, Aviation Machinist's Mate, Third Class, probable joined VB-111 on its deployment to NAF Port Lyautey, Morocco. He was with VB-111 and VPB-111 throughout the rest of the war. His photos cover a lot of ground and best of all he has 18 PB4Y-1 crews standing by their aircraft and 3 PB4Y-2 crews standing by theirs. My dad had typed up the names of the crewmembers on small tabs of paper and so far, I've been able to match 7 crews with their aircraft. He aways use to tell us not to lose those pieces of paper, but never pasted them in with the pictures. Wish I had known about this Association a few years ago, because I sure would have taken him to a Reunion. Dad passed away in November, 1995. Dad's picture is in the log at the Navy Memorial..." BRESNAN, AO Richard L. myeagleink@yahoo.com "...I served with VP-26 (1956-1960) at NAS Brunswick, Maine. I crewed as an Ordnanceman aboard crews 1 and 6. What a great ride. I wish I was 50 years younger so I could do it all over again..." [E-Mail Updated 29JAN2017 | 30JUN2010]
BRESSETTE, Randy RBressette@AOL.com "...I joined VP-65 at NAS Point Mugu, California as an TAR AWAA in October of 1972 and started my VP career in the SP-2H. My first ride in a Neptune was at NAS Willow Grove, Pennsylvania where, on a Saturday morning during my training process I went over to the VP unit for a "ride". Little did I know that during taxi the main AC Bus would blow up and catch on fire with me sitting in the Julie seat. Thank goodness for the FE who pulled me by the parachute straps out of the A/C and into a ditch! Two years later I was part of the aircrew who flew the SP-2H that sits in the Pensacola museum. I didn't stay a TAR, but remained a SELRES for 23 years earning AWCS during my tenure with VP-65. I closed out may career in North Island as a CWO3 with COMASWINGPAT..." [21APR98]

BREUIL, CDR R. S. "Bubba" Bubba.Breuil@alza.com "...I served aboard VP-40 from Aug '85 through Feb '89, at which time I transferred to VP-31 as an FRS instructor pilot. I left VP-31, and active duty, in Sep '91 to attend the Stanford Graduate School of Business. After earning my MBA, I joined both civilian life and the Naval Reserve, serving aboard VP-91 until its disestablishment in Mar '99. NAS Moffett Field, California (or "Federal Airfield") has become a depressing ghost town, and I sorely miss all of my squadronmates, WESTPAC deployments, golfing at NAF Kadena, Okinawa, Japan, water-skiing at NAS Cubi Point, Philippines, the Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island, diving off NAS Agana, Guam, shopping in Osan, the hot baths in Misawa, nothing in NAS Adak, Alaska, and getting reamed for not saluting Air Force generals in unmarked cars..." BREWER, Charles Griffin JUDGE BREWER http://www.forest-blade.com/news/2005/0803/social/053.html "...Judge Brewer interviewed at library July 14, 2005 - World War II veteran Judge Charles Griffin Brewer was interviewed at the Franklin Memorial Library on Thursday, July 14. Judge Brewer was in the U. S. Navy and served aboard the USS Onslow (AVP-48) in the Pacific Theater. He attended Aviation Machinist Mate School and Aerial Gunners School, and received Combat Air Crew Training before his VP-27 squadron was formed at NAAS Harvey Point, North Carolina. His unit was then shipped to San Francisco where they ferried planes to Hawaii and took transport ships back. Their squadron was then designated a VPB (patrol bombing squadron), and they flew to MCAS/NAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, where they received advanced training and flew anti-submarine patrols. Their next assignment was NAS Tanapag Harbor, Saipan, Marianas Islands, where they lived aboard sea planes. The USAAF was using B29s to run bombing raids on Japan, and many of the planes were crashing in the vicinity of Saipan, Tinian and Japan as they tried to return from their long missions. His unit was responsible for finding these downed airmen and directing ships in the area to pick them up. They were then sent to Keramaretto, a group of islands west of Okinawa. From there they participated in the bombardment of Okinawa. At the same time, a large fleet of battleships was firing salvos on the island, and aircraft carriers were sending plane after plane over for air attacks. They also ran bombing missions up the coast of China, across the southern end of Korea, and over almost to Japan. The Navy suffered heavy losses during the war from Kamikaze attacks as the Kamikazes would come in about sundown each day and destroy ships in the Naval Fleet. After the bombing of Nagasaki, Judge Brewer and his squadron flew over the area at about 600 feet. He described the complete destruction of the city. These World War II veterans' interviews are videotaped and stored at the Franklin Memorial Library. They are available for public viewing. Members of the public wishing to view one of these interviews may do so if the facilities are available or they may call the library at 2377791 and reserve a time to view one of these videos. These interviews are done through the support of Franklin Memorial Library, the Emanuel County Historic Preservation Society, and the Governor David Emanuel Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Technical support is provided by Dr. Bob Brown and Michael Buxton..." [15AUG2005]
