June 1956 - VP-34 became VAH-3 while still in NAS Coco Solo, Panama, Canal Zone flying PBM Martin Mariner seaplanes.
June 1956 - VAH-3 established at NAS Jacksonville, Florida with Douglas A3D "Sky Warriors" Squadron Commander was CDR. Moorehouse
June 15, 1956 - Nucleus of VAH-3 formed from VP-34 which was disestablished
July 1957 to Feb. 1958 - VAH-3 Carrier Quals on the FDR (CVA 42) and the Saratoga (CVA 60) with Pres. Eisenhower on board
February 1958 - After Med cruise on the FDR, VAH-3 moved to NAS Sanford, Florida from NAS Jacksonville, Florida
June 16, 1961 - HAtWingOne formed as only RAG (Replacement Air Group) squadron at NAS Sanford, Florida. VAH-3 receives the first four operational A3J-1 "Vigilantes" at NAS Sanford Florida replacing the A3D "Sky Warriors". The A3J used for pilot and bomb/navigator qualifications. July 1, 1964 - VAH-3 re-designated RVAH-3 with North American RA-5C Vigilantes. (Ref: Aerofax Minigraph 9.)
May 1, 1968 - RVAH-3 moved to NAS Albany, Georgia from NAS Sanford. (Ref: Aerofax Minigraph 9.)
January 15, 1974 - RVAH-3 moved to NAS Key West, Florida from NAS Albany, Georgia.(Ref: Aerofax Minigraph 9.)
August 17, 1979 - RVAH-3 "Sea Dragons" were disestablished at NAS Key West, Florida. (Ref: Aerofax Minigraph 9.) [16AUG99]
