2000 Norfolk Area Reunion Y2KNGU Reunion Update II
VP-11 NEPTUNE ASSOCIATION
We understand that VP-11 flew four different types of aircraft. The PBY Catalina, the PB4Y-2 Privateer, the P2V Neptune and the P3 Orion. Our group has chosen the name VP-II Neptune Association to show that we are the ones who were in VP-11 during the years 1952-1966, when the Neptune was flown, and at the same time not use a squadron designation that could also be used by any other aircraft era group. While our name is admittedly specific, we are not an exclusive group. We welcome any and all from any of the other aircraft era groups to join the Association and enjoy the comradery of a VP'II group and swap lies, as the rest of us do, when we meet.

Dining There are many fine restaurants in the area as well as the usual fast food choices. I t is not that I don't have a mind of my own, or that I am henpecked, but Shella says, and I agree, our choice of dining is at Rockafellers on Thursday evening for their two one pound Maine lobster dinner for about $19 per person Jack Brozena says Worrells one and one half pound Maine lobster dinner for about $15 per person(Mon -Thurs ) is a better value Neither place seems to be conducive to banquet type set-ups for the lobster dinners, so small intimate groups would be the order of the day Friday is our banquet at the NAS Oceana 0 'Club Shella says, and I agree, our choice of dining for Saturday evening is at one of the many fine seafood buffets in the area One, Captain Georges, -which is relatively close by is offering a reserved area for us from 1800 to 2000 for their all you can eat seafood buffet at a group rate of $26 50 per person to include the buffet, tax, tip and refillable non-alcoholic drinks If you like, please sign up since we have to give them seven days notice Most other restaurants in the area don't require reservations for small parties
Transportation Since buses are going to be the main form of transportation many of you may wonder if you need to rent a car when you fly in For your consideration, Groome Transportation located at the airport charges (one way to motel) $20 for one, $26 75 for two, $32 50 for three and $9.50 per person for four or more A round trip rate is available but has to be asked and paid for at the airport A 24 hour reservation is required for pick-up at the motel to go to the airport
Hospitality Room John Howley has graciously volunteered to be the Hospitality Room Senior Watch Officer The availability and effectiveness of a Hospitality Room depends on having enough people to help No one or two persons should be expected to do all the work The committee will provide the supplies, you will help in setting out and dispensing Please sign up on the registration form to help in the Hospitality Room so John can make up a watch bill that is a not a burden to anyone. No one even has to be a professional bartender Jfyou can pour "two fingers of red eye " into a glass, you 're hired i
Bulletin Boards and Slide Projector Styrofoam boards "will be set up around the perimeter of the Hospitality Room so pictures and other momentos can be posted Please leave the Rota parachutes at home A carousel slide projector will be available also
Entertainmnt After the last reunion, one of our most revered, and I must add most vocal, former Skippers Dunbar said he liked the kind of entertainment we 've been having, "sort of corny but it relates to us" said he Harry Kraus who is probably the world's best corn farmer said he could be as corny as the next guy so he volunteered to be in charge ofemceeing the banquet, a semi-serious time, smart-alecky but never crude remarks at other times and coordinating other humorous activities on Thursday and Saturday evenings If any of you feel disposed to help Harry provide some humor so he doesn't have to stand in front of a very discerning and disruptive audience by himself, please contact him in January.
